Coconut Coir

Coconut coir is a byproduct of the coconut husk grinding process. After grinding, the coconut husk yields three main components: coconut fiber and coconut coir. Once the husk is separated, the coir (which makes up 70% of the husk) is obtained.

Processed coconut coir is considered an excellent source of natural organic substrate for plant growth. It promotes root development and serves as a habitat for beneficial microorganisms that support plants, helping them withstand short periods of nutrient and water deficiency. This material is readily available in nature and is very environmentally friendly.

Using coconut coir for planting offers numerous benefits. First, it enhances the yield and productivity of crops. Coconut coir improves soil structure, making the soil more aerated and allowing roots to grow stronger. Another benefit is that coconut coir provides a buffering zone for plants, protecting roots from the impact of hot weather. Therefore, coconut coir is commonly used as a growing medium for various plants, including hydroponic vegetables, mushrooms, flowers, and sprouts.
